Distinguishing features

The face throat and underparts are white.  They have a black border across the forehead and curving down through the eye.  The upperparts are a dull brown.  The tail is a dark brown to black colour with a white tip.  They have buff flanks with a colour intensity that varies between subspecies.

Distribution and habitat preferences
