Distinguishing features

Often confused with snakes but unlike snakes its tail is longer than its head and body (never so with snakes). The tail is fragile (can be dropped when in shock). A snake tail is not fragile.

Distribution and habitat preferences

Endemic to Western Australia. Found in heaths and low scrub on near-coastal white or yellow sandplains.
