Distribution and habitat preferences

It is a pelagic, schooling species that occurs in coastal and inshore waters, often associated with rocky reefs, jetties and pylons. Sometimes enters estuaries. Prefers warmer water (18-24 Deg.C) although found occasionally in cooler water.
