Distribution and habitat preferences

The variegated limpet is one of the most successful intertidal species endemic to eastern Australia. It has relatively few intertidal predators, and is primarily limited by dessication from above and fish predation from below.

Diet

It feeds on microalgae, but its intense grazing pressure keeps other animals like barnacles from settling in its range.
