Distinguishing features

It is a purplish-grey with darker bands and scalloped trailing edges to the wings. There are two distince  purple eyespots on the wings that show up clearly when using flash photography.

Distribution and habitat preferences

Adults hide in hollow trees and caves during the day, coming out at night to forage.
