Interesting facts

  • The hydraulic pressure of tube feet can separate the shells of a clam. Only slightly, because clams have concentrated all of their strength into one muscle, the closing muscle. The Sea Star however does not need a large gap for it can inject its stomach through a small gap and digest the inner flesh of the clam.
This would be a good trick if you went camping and forgot a can opener; stab the can with a knife and then inject your stomach into the can.
