Distribution and habitat preferences

Occur in small to large aggregations on the outer edge of certain reefs rich in coralliferous areas, as well as rocky reefs. May also be associated with piers and pilons.

Local abundance

  • Lizard Island: Uncommon. This species is more common further south.
