Translucent with spine showing through in alternating bands of white and red/brown.

Comments

This species is similar to Helcogramma chica as illustrated by Allen and Erdman (2012) but that species has not been recorded from Australia.

Distribution and habitat preferences

It can be found in marine environments.

Adults inhabit lagoons and seaward reefs. They are found in caves, crevices and on flat surfaces of coral, sponges or rubble with algae. Some live on live corals. (Fishbase)
