Distinguishing features

A dark silver/grey sweetlips with black fins, a black edge to the gill cover above the level of the pectoral fin, and a white spine at anterior edge of ventral fin (Allen et al, 1997; Allen et al, 2003). Smallish specimens (40 to 50 cm long) at Lizard Island have a yellowish tail.
