Distribution and habitat preferences

Inhabits sandy areas of reef flats, lagoons, and semi-protected seaward reefs. Juveniles shallow in protected coastal waters (FishBase).

Behaviour

Has the habit of following sand-disturbing fishes such as goatfishes in order to intercept escaping prey (FishBase).
