Distinguishing features

Shades of green with a distinctive purplish patch on belly, pink facial markings, tail with wavy bands. Ocellated black spot on dorsal fin. Usually found in loose groups.

Distribution and habitat preferences

Inhabits reef flats, reef margins, and rocky shores, mainly in inshore weedy areas (FishBase).
