Distinguishing features

Distinguishing features still need to be specified.

Size

  • From 22 cm to 25 cm (Length of specimen)

Wingspan

  • From 51 cm to 57 cm

Synonyms

Similar taxa

  • Animalia: Lesser Nighthawk (species: Chordeiles acutipennis)
Lesser Nighthawks are easiest to distinguish from Common Nighthawks by the white bar on the wings. In Lesser Nighthawks the white wing bar is closer to the tip of the wing, leaving a dark equilateral triangle for the wingtip rather than the longer, isosceles triangle created by the white bar of a Common Nighthawk. Lesser Nighthawks also typically have somewhat more rounded wings than Common Nighthawks.
