Distinguishing features

This is a common small tree at Lizard Island, usually growing to about 2 m high although they can reach 5 m. Its thin trunk has deeply furrowed pale grey bark. Flowers are white and tubular with five petals and four long protruding stamens unless damaged by insect attack. The stamens are pale, not purple as in C. inerme. Fruit ripen from green to black in a solid red calyx.
