Distinguishing features

The skin at the base of the bill has a blue-grey colour and the bill itself is black. The eye is red. It has a yellow spot at or just behind the ear and sometimes just under the eye.

The head and back are dark brown.  It has white streaking on the shoulders.  The wings and tail plumage have a golden yellow colour mixed in with the surrounding darker colours.  The throat and breast are streaked white and dark. The underparts are a light grey.
