Young Dugites hatch from their leathery eggs in late summer-early autumn.  They are about 30cm long, have a blackish-brown blotch on the head, a greenish body with brownish zig-zag markings on the back.

Distribution

Distribution and habitat preferences

Fairly common in semi-rural areas like Yalgorup National Park particularly around stables and poultry farms where grain is stored. This encourages rats and mice to breed which, in turn, attracts Dugites.

Diet

Mostly small mammals, particularly the introduced House Mouse.
