Rainbow Cale (Odax acroptilus) adolescent male. This is a species of weed whiting in the same family as the longer herring cale. The juveniles of the species have less distinct colouration - this one is starting to form the blotches and extended front dorsal spines of the male. Botany Bay, Sydney Australia.
