Cotoneaster pannosus

© Leonora Enking

Growing here in the old Botanical Garden in Barcelona. A medium-sized shrub with long arching branches. It resembles Cotoneaster franchetti ... often used as hedging in the UK ... but has smaller, sage-green leaves and small fruits which are rounded, deep red, and colour up later than C. franchetti. Native to W. China, it was introduced in 1888 by the Abbe Delavay.
