This species is also common on sandstone ledges where drainage is impeded, so I suspect that in this environment there is a peaty layer on the sand which likewise impedes drainage. This belongs to a complex of forms in Lepidosperma with flattened leaves and culms, in which species identification is notoriously difficult, so I am not 100% sure it is L. viscidum .
