Nysius vinitor (Rutherglen Bug)

Rutherglen Bugs (Nysius vinitor) at rest area on the Olympic Way near Yathella, south of Junee, New South Wales, Australia. Photographed on 24 November 2014. They are about 3-4 mm long and are shown here with an as yet unidentified shield bug. These bugs have been swarming with unseasonably early season hot weather and strong winds. The radio show ABC Rural was holding a discussion about these bugs invading houses and being difficult to keep out at about the time I came across these. They are an agricultural pest, being sap sucking insects.
