Stinkweed (Opercularia diphylla)

Native, warm season, perennial, small weak or procumbent herb. Stems are hairless or minutely scabrous. Leaves are narrow-lanceolate to narrow-ovate, 1–3 cm long and 1–8 mm wide, with the upper surface minutely scabrous and lower surface ± hairless. Flowering heads occur on recurved peduncles, usually 2–9 mm long. Corolla is 1.5–3 mm long. Fruiting heads are 3–8 mm diam.; outer surface of seeds are transversely wrinkled and the inner surface is ± pitted. Flowering is from spring–autumn. Grows in sclerophyll forest, heath, grassland, often in sandy soils.
