Eagle Short-toed Circaetus gallicus Sagres 09/10/12

From late August to the end of October, Algarve's Sagres peninsula witnesses a massive movement of raptors heading for their wintering grounds. The raptor watch point some 2km inland from the lighthouse at Cape St Vincent, can provide great views of migrating vultures, eagles and hawks. From mid September through early October falls of passerines can also occur. The peninsula also hosts a resident population of little bustards, though these can be difficult to locate through the spiky endemic vegetation..
