It is often seen in coastal gardens. It is very hardy, which is one reason for its popularity, but that also means it can thrive by itself once it escapes into bushland. It proves troublesome to remove because the succulent stems are very brittle and break easily. The plant then regenerates rapidly from the root fragments left behind.
