Beresfield, about 20 km north-west of Newcastle, New South Wales. The most common weedy pigeon-grass in NSW, germinating profusely and sometimes flowering on very tiny plants, but can be a perennial under suitable conditions. Seldom over 1 m in height, usually around 0.5m. The above species name is as used in the AusGrass CD, but Flora of New South Wales has it as S. gracilis, with S. geniculata var. pauciseta as a synonym.
