Native, yearlong-green, perennial, coarse, densely tufted grass to 1.2 m tall. Leaves are very long and 1-3.5 mm wide, rough on the lower surface and dull green or greyish-green. Found in moister areas, such as drainage lines, gullies, river flats, forests and open sheltered slopes; especially where fertility is reasonably high.
