Distribution and habitat preferences

The species occurs in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. 

It is often the dominant tree species in vegetation communities where it occurs, primarily grassy woodlands in seasonally flooded areas, and is usually associated with heavy, black clay soils. (Wikipedia)
